Book Bum

I wanted to give all of you guys an insight into Evan's most favorite thing to do. This kid is crazy for books...lets just hope it lasts!

No, really he has more fun looking at all of his books and is so fun to watch him sit in his chair and "read". When we were getting our floors put in everything was in complete shambles, but Evan didn't waste anytime carrying his books from our bedroom into the living room to sit in front of the fireplace (where his chair normally is) and start looking at his books. He's not much for routine either, is he ;)

Evan the 15 month old is a big fan of animals. He will flip through all his books to get to the animal pages and then proceed to get very excited, point to all the animals and shout out an enthusiastic "dog". Keep in mind that anything that even remotely looks like a dog is a "dog" to Evan right now! He is so convinced of this that he even pointed at Max the other day and said "dog". HA!!

88 Years Young!

Things have been kind of crazy around our house recently. We had new floors put in a few weeks ago and our house was a complete wreck. I don't think we really knew what we were getting ourselves into. Now that they are done we love them, but it has taken a little while to get things back to normal.  I will try to post some photos when I get a chance. It really looks like a different house. Okay, enough about that...

My Mimi turned 88 this past week and we spent the day with her last Saturday. She is amazing; if we could all be lucky enough to look and act as young as she does at her age. It's truly incredible. I think she enjoyed everyone having everyone there to celebrate and Evan loved being the center of attention of course. I thought these photos were too precious not to share.

Our Sweet Angel!

Evan's Aunt Katy and Uncle Michael gave him this outfit for his birthday and we busted it out for church today. I have to admit, he looked like a sweet little angel. Keeping in mind that ten seconds before this photo he did try to bite us, but I couldn't resist sharing this precious face!

Summer Fun!

This summer has proven to truly be fun in more ways than we can count. Evan is learning more and more all the time, and we feel like we are starting to get a true glimpse of our little guy's personality. Each day he surprises us with something new he has picked up. Amazing how those little brains work!

He is signing a few things (more, eat, milk and sometimes please) and a time or two he has even combined all of them to try to get his point across. Evan has always been pretty chatty, but recently his "robot" language has started to have a few recognizable words in there. The ones we've heard: bye bye, ball, Mama, Dada, thank you, PawPaw, nite nite.

These are some photos of some of the fun times we have been having this summer.

I finally like wearing sunglasses. I think I look really cool!

Multipurpose swimming pool = Ball pit

Only way to spend a July afternoon in Houston!

Not happy the train ride came to an end. :(

Evan on His Own Two Feet!

This weekend Evan decided he was going to try his way at walking. We started practicing barely holding onto him yesterday and he seemed stable enough to let go. He was walking in between me and David and is making great progress.

We are so excited and he is so proud of himself as well. Take a look.

Tar Balls and Toddlers

So, we went to Dauphin Island for the 4th this year for our annual vacation with David's dad and stepmom. We always have such a wonderful time on these trips and this one was no different.

We had small incident to start the trip. Evan fell and busted his lip. It seemed a lot worse at first, but he got past it and it didnt' affect his fun for the weekend. The oil did put a little damper on our "beach" time, but the house we stayed at had a great pool and we had so much fun swimming and relaxing. Evan got to spend so much time with Nini and Poppy and Aunt Claire and Uncle Christian. It was so nice to catch up with everyone and just spend the three days enjoying one another.

This trip also meant that we got to see Monty, Erin, Nathan and Wesley who we haven't seen since Christmas (way too long by the way). Nathan is growing up so much and is such a joy. Wesley is running around everywhere and is definitely not the baby he was at Christmas. He and Evan have so many fun times ahead of them. We just need to get Evan walking so he can keep up. ;) I wish these guys lived closer; a few times a year is not often enough to see their sweet faces.

I hope you guys enjoy our photos from the trip! For those of you who want to see the tar balls, I included a picture of those as well.

Yellowstone Fun

Most of you guys know that we took a trip to Yellowstone this past week with my parents and Michael and Katy. We were pretty nervous about the travel part of the trip with Evan, but he did great! He was such a trooper the whole time and we had such a wonderful time.

The weather there was amazing and Evan loved it too! We definitely weren't prepared to head back to this 90 degree weather and crazy humidity. The house we stayed at was the same house we stayed in a few years ago with David's family, and again we weren't disappointed. It was so clean and we had so much room and they had a fantastic porch that Evan just couldn't get enough of. He just wanted to crawl and walk around outside as much as he could.

We saw some great wildlife and more beautiful scenery than you could imagine. My dad has wanted to take this trip for as long as I can remember, so I hope we made it memorable for him. Enjoy some of our photos from the trip!

Crazy Hair Day!!

Check out Evan's Mohawk he had for crazy hair day today!

Evan meets Elijah!

So, we took at last minute trip to Dallas this past weekend and I'm so glad that we did. We had a few minor (we'll call them distractions), but all in all we had a great weekend. Evan had so much fun with everyone and was such a trooper the whole trip.

On Sunday we went to a "sip and see" for Katharine and Elijah, so I wanted to share a few photos from our fun weekend in Dallas.
